How to find a podcast's RSS feed

Apple and Spotify don't show a podcast's RSS feed. Here is where it is: in Apple's directory, on the show's site, or one search away. Free finder included.

Key findings

  • Every show in Apple Podcasts comes from a public RSS 2.0 feed, but the Podcasts app doesn't show its address.
  • Apple's public lookup API returns a show's feed as feedUrl. Our test on October 22, 2026: lookup?id=1528594034 returned https://feeds.simplecast.com/6HKOhNgS for Hard Fork.
  • Spotify's app and website don't show a show's RSS feed. The same show is usually in Apple's directory under the same name, with its feed.
  • A show that is only on Spotify has no public feed at all.

The fastest way

Paste the show's Apple Podcasts or Spotify link, or just its name, into the free podcast RSS feed finder. It does the steps below for you and gives you the address to copy.

From an Apple Podcasts link

Apple builds its listings from each show's RSS feed: a feed has to be RSS 2.0 and publicly reachable to be listed.[1] The Podcasts app just doesn't show the address. Apple's public Search API can look a show up by its id,[2] which is the number after "id" in the link.

  1. 1
Copy the show's link. It looks like podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hard-fork/id1528594034.
  2. 2
Open https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?id=1528594034 with the show's own number.
  3. 3
Find feedUrl in the answer. That is the feed.

We ran that lookup on October 22, 2026, and it returned https://feeds.simplecast.com/6HKOhNgS for Hard Fork. Apple limits the Search API to about 20 calls a minute,[2] so it's for looking up a few shows, not thousands.

From a Spotify link

Spotify doesn't show an RSS feed for the shows in its app. Most shows on Spotify are also published by their host to an ordinary feed, so search the show's name in a public directory, such as Apple's, and take the feed from there. That is exactly how BitePods plays a Spotify link. If a show is only on Spotify, there is no public feed to find.

From the show's own website

Look for an RSS link or icon, often next to the "Listen on" buttons. If there isn't one, the page may still name its feed in its code: the RSS Advisory Board's autodiscovery convention is a <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml"> tag in the page's head.[3] View the page's source and search for rss+xml.

How to check you have the right feed

Open the address in a browser. A feed starts with <rss and lists episodes inside <item> tags, each with an <enclosure> that points at the audio file. Apple requires every episode to carry one, with its URL, length and type.[1] Or paste the feed into BitePods: if its episodes list, it works.

Questions

Where do I find a podcast's RSS feed?

Not in the Apple Podcasts or Spotify apps. Look it up in Apple's public directory with the show's id, check the show's website for an RSS link, or paste the show's link or name into a feed finder.

Does Spotify have RSS feeds for podcasts?

Spotify's app and website don't show one. Most shows on Spotify also have a public feed from their host, which you can find by searching the name in Apple's directory. Spotify-only shows have none.

What can I do with a podcast's RSS feed?

Follow the show in any podcast app that takes a feed, read it in a feed reader, or paste it into BitePods to clip any episode.

Is a podcast RSS feed free to use?

The feed is public so that apps can play the show. The episodes in it still belong to the show, so listening and linking are fine, but republishing them is not.
